What's The Best Way To Break Out Of A Hitting Slump?  12/29/2007

I get lots of calls from baseball players who are stuck in slumps. Here are some
of the kinds of things they say when they call me up.

“ I can’t seem to catch up with fast ball.” “I’m getting fooled all the time at the plate.”
“I used to be confident with men on base. Now I can’t seem to make contact
with the ball in clutch situations.” “I just can’t get comfortable up there.
I’m nervous in the dugout, in the on deck circle and in the batter’s box.”
“I’m just not seeing the ball real well.” “I seem to be guessing wrong all
the time.” I just can’t find my timing at the plate.” “Ever since I was hit by
that pitch, I’ve been really nervous up there. What can I do to get out of this
slump? I’ve been in it for weeks. I’ve talked it over with my hitting coach and
he says my mechanics are fine.”

In my view, one of the best ways to avoid a slump is to have the mental skills
required to stay calm, focused, concentrated, relaxed and optimistic at the plate.
Many of these concepts are explained in my Stay In The Zone program. Here is
the link to get that program.

However, if you do get stuck in a slump, I have recently created a program that
will show you what you need to do from a psychological standpoint in order to break out the slump. Here is the link to learn more about this program.
