Course teaches psychological tips for golfers

Psychotherapist Jay P. Granat will share tips for playing a better round of golf in a one-session course on "How to Lower Your Golf Score in 90 minutes."

Sponsored by Greenwich Continuing Education, the course will be held from 6:30 to 9:20 pm. Thursday at Greenwich High School.

Mr. Granat is author of "How to Lower Your Golf Score with Sport Psychology and Self-Hypnosis." He has coached amateur and professional athletes and works with top golf pros in the Northeast.

The class will introduce golfers to the psychological techniques pro golfers use to enhance their performance, including self-hypnosis. Participants will be taught how to relax, fell confident and "conquer the mental hazards of golf." The class will include live and video demonstrations and a putting contest.

Local psychotherapist gives program on athletes

RIVER VALE - Jay P. Granat, Ph.D., of River Vale, will deliver a presentation at the annual Conference On Counseling Athletes at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 30.

He will demonstrate for psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors who work with athletes how to use hypnosis, self-hypnosis and a particular form of psychotherapy to help athletes enhance their performance. A videotapes will illustrate how he has helped golfers.

Granat has recently produced an eight-volume audio program, "How to Lower Your Golf Score with Sports Psychology and Self-Hypnosis." The program is being sold at Nevada Bob's and Paramus Golf.

Granat is President-elect of the New York Society for Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnosis, and is a psychotherapist. He has coached weekend warriors and athletes, was a professor at FDU, and is the author of numerous journal articles and several books.
